Mother accused of abuse after 5-year-old son goes to school with bruises in Miami-Dade — Coral Gables Schools news

A 33-year-old mother faced charges on Tuesday after deputies accused her of abusing her 5-year-old son in Miami-Dade County. Claudia Gonzalez “struck him on the right side of his face, multiple times” on Sunday night and used makeup on his face to send him to school on Monday morning, a deputy wrote. Since the boy had “visible bruising,” Gonzalez told him that if anyone asked him about it, he should blame it on “playfighting” with his twin brother, according to the report. “If not, the school would call police,” Gonzalez told her son, according to the deputy’s report.Deputies arrested Gonzalez at 5 p.m. on Monday at the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Hammocks District Station, according to a deputy’s arrest report. Miami-Dade corrections booked Gonzalez at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Doral, according to inmate records. Gonzalez faced one count of child abuse with no great bodily harm, a third-degree felony. Her bond was $2,500. Local 10 News Ass
